I started working on CityWalker for the satisfaction of building a good product. It has no account because backends cost money, and I stripped things down so I could keep the app cheap to run and free forever. My aim for CityWalker is not to earn money, but to make it as good as I can.
CityWalker Android will always remain free. I have started thinking about iOS. Since iOS has additional costs over Android, if I build it, it will not be completely free.
The core features will never need an account. But an app can offer more if it has a backend. The plan is to build one day if there are enough users. Core features will never be locked behind it. Additional features will be opt-in and will never block the core experience.
